Chair's Announcement

Minutes:

The Chair, Councillor Ian Brookfield, referred to the recent death of Bob Jones, West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner and a former Wolverhampton City Councillor. Councillors and Employees stood in silent tribute as a mark of respect.

Safeguarding adults at risk - corporate roles and responsibilities pdf icon PDF 113 KB

To approve the draft corporate roles and responsibilities for safeguarding adults at risk and to recommend its inclusion in the Constitution.

Amrita Sharma presented a report which south the endorsement of the Committee for the inclusion of the corporate roles and responsibilities for safeguarding adults at risk within the Council’s Constitution.

 

Resolved:

That Council be recommended to approve the revisions to the Constitution to include the draft corporate roles and responsibilities for safeguarding adults at risk as detailed in Appendix 1 to the report.

To consider whether to confer the title of Honorary Alderman on former Councillor Neville Anthony Patten.

Minutes:

The Committee considered a report which recommended that an extraordinary meeting of the Council be convened to confer the title of Honorary Alderman on former Councillor Neville Anthony Patten. Councillor Peter O’Neil drew to the attention of the Committee that former Councillor Patten had been Vice Chair of the Scrutiny Board from 2011 – 2014 and not as stated in the report from 2001 – 2014. Carl Craney confirmed this to be the case.

 

Resolved:

That an extraordinary meeting of the Council be convened on 16 July 2014 to confer the title of Honorary Alderman on former Councillor Neville Anthony Patten.

8.

Revocation of Honorary Titles

Minutes:

In the light of recent publicity, including revocation of honorary titles, the Committee enquired as to the procedures available to the Council to revoke any honorary titles awarded by it if desirable so to do.

 

Resolved:

That a report on this matter be submitted to a future meeting of the Committee.
