[To approve amendments to the Council’s Constitution]

1. That the amendments to the Constitution as detailed in this report be approved.

2. That the Monitoring Officer be authorised to implement the changes.

Councillor Paula Brookfield presented the report Changes to the Constitution for approval. The changes would ensure continuing lawfulness and effectiveness of the constitution.

Councillor Paula Brookfield, outlined the minor amendments to be made to the constitution and the rationale for making these changes.

Councillor Paula Brookfield proposed the recommendations and Councillor Tersaim Singh seconded the recommendations.

Resolved:

1.    That the amendments to the Constitution as detailed in this report be approved.

2.    That the Monitoring Officer be authorised to implement the changes.

David Pattison, Chief Operating Officer, presented the report on Changes to the Constitution for recommendation to Council.

The proposed key changes, as detailed in section three of the report, were outlined to the Committee, and the Chief Operating Officer responded to questions asked.

To ensure fairness for virtual attendees where speeches were timed, the use of a visible timer for those speaking online was suggested.

Councillor Tersaim Singh moved the recommendations within the report. Councillor John Reynolds seconded the recommendations.

Resolved:

That Council be recommended to:

1. Approve the amendments to the Constitution as detailed in the report.

2. Authorise the Monitoring Officer to implement the changes.
