That the City Housing Strategy 2019 – 2024 be approved, as attached at Appendix 1 to this report.

Councillor Peter Bilson presented the City Housing Strategy 2019 – 2024 for approval. The Strategy had been developed to reflect on emerging national and local priorities as well as to align the priorities for the delivery of housing and housing services for the next five years to the new Council Plan. The report set out the requirement for a City Housing Strategy, the process that has been involved in developing the strategy and summarised the key priorities that would develop and drive the housing agenda going forward. It was noted that housing was a key contributor to overall health and wellbeing, which was one of the Council’s key priorities. The Cabinet welcomed initiatives that would hold poor landlords to account and provide greater enforcement powers.
