Save The Towers Outdoor Education Centre

We, the undersigned, petition the council to withdraw the Cabinet paper 19/02/2020 relating to the closure of The Towers and explore other methods of sale which will allow for the continued use of The Towers by Wolverhampton children.

The Towers has hosted the children of Wolverhampton since 1961: a centre supporting the development, both physical and emotional, of thousands of individuals.
The location of The Towers is unique and allows children, regardless of their background, to experience and be constructively challenged by the outdoors, immersing them in nature within an area of breathtaking natural beauty. Led by highly qualified outdoor education professionals, the children are provided with a learning opportunity that is truly outstanding.
We urge the council to safeguard the provision for Wolverhampton children, in the near and distant future, giving time to ensure that all possible avenues to keep The Towers Outdoor Education Centre are explored.

The options for the Towers Outdoor Education Centre was taken to Cabinet on Wednesday 19 February where Councillors were advised a petition had been received with a total of 404 signatures. The option to close the Towers immediately, with users signposted to alternative provision, and the Council’s Asset Management Board would determine the disposal process was approved. The Council did agree to do further work with users of the Towers Outdoor Education Centre to help identify alternative options for outdoor education. Under the new #YES Strategy, engagement with parents, young people and schools would occur to ensure a range of activities and opportunities are accessible for all children and young people.
