Acquisition of Corn Hill Car Park

Decision type: Key

Decision status: For Determination

Notice of proposed decision first published: 12/07/2017

This decision will be taken under urgency procedures.

Reason for urgency:
The City Development Team were made aware on 28th June 2017 that the Corn Hill site had been put on the market, with the deadline for offers to be submitted set as midday on 28th July 2017. The City Development team have worked qiuickly to assess whether any interested parties could partner with the Council to acquire the site on our behalf for development in line with our regeneration aspirations. In the meantime, a valuation report has been commissioned and due diligence work commenced. As it now looks unlikely any partner organisation will bring the site forward for development within the Area Action Plan timeframe, the principle to acquire the site was approved by City Centre Performance Board on 5th July 2017.
If a decision is not made until after 28 days’ notice, the deadline will have lapsed and the Council will have missed the opportunity to bid to purchase this site.
