Greg Bickerdike, Licensing Manager, presented the report on Driver Safety Enclosures, and highlighted the key points. The report provided a copy of the draft Vehicle Licence Requirements Policy, outlined the consultation responses, and sought Committee approval on the proposed policy to regulate Driver Safety Enclosures.

 

The report was considered by Committee.

 

Councillor Potter moved the recommendations and Councillor Dalton seconded the recommendations.

 

Resolved:

That Members of the Regulatory Committee:

1.    Approved the policy to regulate Driver Safety Enclosures.

Greg Bickerdike, Licensing Manager, presented the report on Taxi Personal Safety Alarms, and highlighted the key points. The report provided a copy of the ‘Safety Tips for Taxi and Private Hire Drivers’ guidance and outlined the proposal to purchase personal safety alarms for all vehicles licensed as a hackney carriage or private hire vehicle.

 

The report was considered by Committee and the Licensing Manager responded to questions asked.

 

Members commended the report and thanked the Licensing Manager for his hard work.

 

Councillor Muston moved the recommendations and Councillor Wildman seconded the recommendations.

 

Resolved:

That Members of the Regulatory Committee noted:

  1. The purchase of personal safety alarms for all vehicles licensed as a hackney carriage or private hire vehicle.
  2. The ‘Safety Tips for Taxi and Private Hire Drivers’ guidance, produced to help the trade stay safe.

 

The Chair closed the meeting by thanking Members and officers for their support throughout the previous twelve months. The Committee reciprocated it’s thanks to the Chair.
